about Julie Johnson

MoveOn is Proud to Endorse Julie Johnson for Congress!

Meet Julie Johnson

Julie Johnson is a fierce advocate for justice, having spent her career fighting for those most in need. As a Texas-educated attorney, Julie broke barriers at a time when women were rarely hired to litigate cases. Throughout her legal career, she has defended workers’ rights, advocated for individuals with mental disabilities, helped students wronged by for-profit universities, and championed equality for female athletes. Her dedication to fairness and justice has defined her work and set her apart as a leader.

A Legislative Champion

As a legislator, Julie Johnson has gained a reputation for standing up to powerful forces and fighting for the underrepresented. Last session, she played a key role in defeating 76 of 77 anti-LGBTQ bills, a testament to her commitment to equality. She also authored the Live Well Texas bill, a groundbreaking proposal to expand Medicaid in Texas, gaining bipartisan support with nine Republican co-sponsors. As Vice-Chair of the Women’s Health Caucus, Julie is at the forefront of the battle for reproductive rights, fighting to protect and expand access to healthcare for all Texans.

Ready to Deliver in Congress

Julie Johnson’s record of taking on tough fights makes her uniquely prepared to serve in Congress. She will work to put Democratic values into action, advocating for legislation that addresses the most pressing issues facing Texans and Americans alike. Her top priorities include reinstating reproductive rights and codifying Roe v. Wade into law, strengthening gun laws with measures like safe storage laws, and reducing prescription drug costs. Julie will also work to stop extremist agendas that sow division and undermine democracy.

Julie is ready to continue her fight for justice, equality, and the rights of all Texans on the national stage, delivering real results from Day One.
