Mary Peltola is a dedicated leader focused on securing Alaska’s future. Born and raised in the “Great Land,” Mary has witnessed Alaska’s evolution and the challenges it now faces. With seven children of her own, Mary knows that the current generation can’t fully grasp the spirit of rapid growth and progress that once defined Alaska. The state once had a strong, respected presence in Washington, D.C., but today, political gridlock and outmigration are threatening Alaska’s unique way of life.
Honoring Alaska’s Legacy and Building a Future
Mary believes it’s time to restore Alaska’s strength by building on the legacy of giants like Ted Stevens and Don Young, who always put Alaska first in Washington. In less than two years in office, Mary has worked hard to overcome partisan gridlock and deliver real results for Alaska. She has re-amplified Alaska’s voice in D.C., secured $46 million to protect the Alaska border, and pushed for the largest renewable energy investments in U.S. history, aiming to power 75% of Alaskans with 85% renewable energy by 2035.
Mary’s commitment to Alaska’s working families is evident in her efforts to create high-paying union jobs, secure the largest pay raise for servicemembers in over a decade, and protect reproductive rights for military families. She also fought for critical infrastructure investments, banning foreign trawlers that harm Alaska’s fishing industry, and addressing food insecurity through the creation of the Office of Food Security.
