Meet Ro Khanna

Congressman Ro Khanna represents California’s 17th District, located in Silicon Valley, in his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He currently serves as Chair of the Oversight Subcommittee on the Environment and is a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform, Agriculture, and Armed Services Committees. Khanna has been a champion for progressive policies in Congress. He co-authored the Endless Frontier Act, which laid the groundwork for the CHIPS and Science Act, ensuring U.S. leadership in science and technology. As Chair of the Oversight Subcommittee on the Environment, Khanna brought major fossil fuel CEOs before Congress to testify about climate disinformation, a historic moment in environmental accountability. He also played a key role in passing the Inflation Reduction Act and has championed Medicare for All, term limits for Supreme Court Justices, and campaign finance reform to reduce the influence of big money in politics.

Background and Public Service

Before entering Congress, Khanna was a lecturer at Stanford University and an adjunct professor at Santa Clara Law School. He served on California’s Workforce Development Board and on the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte. In 2009, President Obama appointed him as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he led clean technology trade missions and promoted American manufacturing. Inspired by his grandfather’s involvement in Gandhi’s independence movement in India, Khanna remains dedicated to public service and advancing the American Dream.

Khanna holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Chicago and a law degree from Yale University. He and his wife, Ritu, live in Fremont, California, with their two children.

In her leadership role, she co-chairs the Transgender Equality Task Force and serves on the Immigration Task Force of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.

John Mannion, rooted in Central New York, traces his family’s history back to his grandparents’ immigration from Ireland a century ago. Mannion’s father worked at the New York Central Railroad for 42 years, and his mother at the New York Telephone Company. Both John and his spouse, Jen, have dedicated nearly 30 years to teaching, deeply ingrained in the community where they raised their children.

John Mannion’s Career in Education

With a strong commitment to education, Mannion served as an AP Biology and Chemistry teacher at West Genesee and the Syracuse City School District. Frustrated by declining funding and challenging state government decisions, he decided to run for the State Senate to effect change. John Mannion’s tenure as a public-school science teacher shaped their perspective on the importance of supporting education and community development.

Elected to the State Senate, John Mannion has a proven record of bipartisan collaboration and impactful legislation. Mannion led the effort to pass the Green Chips legislation, instrumental in bringing Micron to Syracuse, promising 60,000 new high-paying jobs. He also accelerated middle-class tax cuts and provided property tax relief, aiding families in saving money. Additionally, John established the first new police department in New York in half a century at Syracuse airport, enhancing safety and accommodating future growth. Meet Mark Pocan

Mark Pocan has established a reputation as an effective progressive leader, bringing his 14 years of experience in the Wisconsin State Assembly to Congress in 2013. Mark’s political journey began in blue-collar Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he delivered campaign literature door-to-door for his father, a long-time city alderman, at just eight years old. This early exposure to politics sparked his passion for public service.

Mark attended college in Madison and, after earning his journalism degree in 1986, opened his own small business, a union printing company he continues to run today. His active involvement with College Democrats at the University of Wisconsin-Madison led to his election to the Dane County Board of Supervisors in 1991, where he served for three terms. In 1998, he was elected to succeed his close friend Tammy Baldwin as the State Representative from the 78th District, and later, he succeeded her once again when she was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012.

Advocate for Progressive Causes

As a small business owner, union member, and lifelong advocate for progressive causes, Mark brings his unique blend of private and public sector experience to Congress. He serves as the Co-Chair of the LGBT Equality Caucus and is a co-founder of the Labor Caucus. He is also the Chair Emeritus of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC). During his five terms in Congress, Mark has fought for access to public education, investment in clean energy, raising the minimum wage, and closing tax loopholes used by large corporations.

After graduating from Kingston High School, Pat attended West Point and served as an Army intelligence officer during two combat tours in Iraq. After his military service, he founded a technology company that grew to over 150 employees, managing a $25 million budget and creating job training programs for veterans. His leadership emphasized worker-friendly policies, like paid family leave, and providing high-paying jobs for veterans without college degrees.

In 2019, Pat was elected Ulster County Executive, where he led the county through the pandemic. His accomplishments included revitalizing the former IBM site, offering financial relief to local businesses, and investing in affordable housing and mental health services—all without raising taxes.

In a historic election, she flipped IL-14 from red to blue, defeating a four-term Republican incumbent. When she was sworn into office in 2019, Lauren became the youngest Black woman to ever serve in Congress. Joe Neguse was first elected in 2018 to represent Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, making history as the first African-American to serve Colorado in Congress. In March 2024, Joe was unanimously elected by his colleagues in the House Democratic Caucus to serve as the Assistant Minority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Throughout his time in Congress, Joe has worked across party lines to serve his community and address the pressing challenges of our time. In 2023, he was recognized by the Center for Effective Lawmaking as the most effective Colorado lawmaker, the third most effective lawmaker in the entire U.S. House, and the top lawmaker for public lands.
