She grew up on Center Street in Clinton, attended Clinton Public School and Voorhees High School, and currently resides in Lambertville, Hunterdon County. Sue was a standout basketball player, leading her high school team to local championships and playing college basketball at Columbia University. She also played professionally abroad and earned two graduate degrees from Oxford University in International Policy and Business.

Sue stood up against then-Governor Chris Christie to protect teachers and combat cuts to public education.
