Meet Emilia Sykes

From her first day in Congress, Emilia Sykes has focused on connecting her community to Washington, cutting through political noise to deliver critical resources to Ohio’s 13th Congressional District. In her first term, she secured over $100 million in federal funding for the district and returned more than $2 million directly to constituents. Her dedication to serving her community has been recognized by local leaders, including the Akron Beacon Journal, which praised her for being an effective lawmaker even amid political gridlock in Congress.

Emilia Sykes’s Priorities

As a representative of Ohio’s 13th district, Congresswoman Sykes has championed policies aimed at lowering costs, promoting good-paying jobs, and growing the local economy. She has been a strong advocate for organized labor, public safety, women’s reproductive rights, environmental protection, and safeguarding Social Security and Medicare. Additionally, Sykes has worked tirelessly to expand access to quality, affordable healthcare and education for all residents of the district. Her commitment to these causes reflects her deep understanding of the challenges faced by working families in Northeast Ohio.

Legislative Achievements and Personal Life

Whether through the RAIL Act, the Mental Health Improvement Act, or the Lower Your Taxes Act, Congresswoman Sykes has pursued a bipartisan legislative agenda aimed at ensuring that everyone in her district can achieve their version of the American Dream. A proud graduate of Kent State University, Sykes also holds a Juris Doctor and Master of Public Health from the University of Florida. She is married to Kevin Boyce and values spending time with her family, appreciating the arts, and reflecting on the countless blessings life has brought her.
