Meet Monica Tranel
Monica Tranel was raised on a ranch in eastern Montana, one of ten children, where hard work was part of everyday life. From feeding livestock to mending fences, Monica learned early on the values of perseverance, resilience, and a strong work ethic. These values not only defined her childhood but propelled her to international success as a world-class athlete. Monica represented the United States in two Olympic Games and went on to win a World Championship Gold Medal in rowing—the first U.S. women’s eight to achieve this remarkable feat at the 2000-meter distance. Her experience as an elite athlete taught her the importance of teamwork, dedication, and pushing beyond limits—qualities she brings to her fight for Montana families today.
Fighting for Montana’s Working Families
Monica’s career is rooted in Montana, where she’s spent decades fighting for the rights of working families, local businesses, and ranchers. After working her way through college and law school, Monica dedicated herself to defending Montanans from powerful out-of-state interests. As an attorney, she has taken on corporate monopolies and won significant victories, including saving Montana ratepayers $10 million by challenging Northwestern Energy in the state Supreme Court. She’s also defended small businesses and local ranchers against billionaires and corporations looking to exploit Montana’s resources. Monica’s legal battles have consistently focused on protecting Montanans’ livelihoods, ensuring fairness, and keeping big business accountable to the people, not the other way around.
A Vision for a Better Future
Monica is running for office to bring real leadership to Montana, focusing on policies that prioritize people over profits. She understands that rising costs, corporate greed, and environmental exploitation are holding Montanans back. Monica is determined to create an economic environment where local businesses can thrive, and families can grow without fear of financial instability. By leveraging Montana’s vast natural resources, Monica believes the state can lead the way in the energy transition, creating jobs and ensuring long-term economic sustainability. Her commitment to affordable healthcare, education, and preserving Montana’s public lands reflects her deep connection to the state’s heritage and future.
Monica Tranel continues to serve the people of Montana through her legal practice, and when she’s not advocating for Montanans, she enjoys Montana’s beautiful landscapes with her husband and three daughters. Monica believes that with the right leadership, Montana can thrive—free from corporate manipulation and focused on building a prosperous future for every family across the state.
