We Rose Up to Protect Our Rights, Freedoms, & Democracy

MAGA Republicans have made it clear that they are not a party for or by the people and that they will do whatever it takes to stay in power.

Rather than fighting for all of us in America, MAGA Republicans have prioritized gutting our rights, threatening our democratic freedoms, raising taxes on working families and seniors, cutting Medicare and Social Security, and giving CEOs a free pass to raise prices on gas and food for political gain.

Throughout 2022, MoveOn members galvanized around core American tenets like our fundamental rights and our democracy, channeling outrage into organizing and organizing into voter turnout. And by turning out in huge numbers, voters throughout the country rejected the MAGA agenda and helped prevent the Republican fantasy of a "red wave," choosing progress instead.

We defended
abortion rights

Following the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade, voters turned out to protect the right to abortion care for all.

Leveraging our mass mobilization rapid-response infrastructure, MoveOn was able to ensure millions of people took to the streets within 24 hours.

In cities and towns across the country, we came together in support of our bodily autonomy and our right to abortion access, demanding that elected leaders take action to protect our right to an abortion.

 

We shared our abortion care stories and refused to allow MAGA extremists to take us backward.

Channeling public outrage into electoral action, we garnered

350,000 pledges

 to overturn the GOP, instead of Roe

We demanded accountability for the

January 6 insurrection.

Tens of millions of people tuned in to the high-profile January 6 Select Committee hearings, where members of Congress made it clear that Trump and MAGA Republicans led the insurrection to overturn the 2020 election results and attempt to decimate our democracy for their own political gain.

MoveOn tapped into that energy to turn a spotlight toward the critical importance of voting in the 2022 midterms.

We brought together hundreds of thousands of people who demanded accountability for MAGA Republicans who planned or played key roles in the criminal conspiracy to sabotage the 2020 election.

We recruited thousands of MoveOn members to participate in our election program, based on the threats to our freedoms highlighted by the committee.

We endorsed and supported pro-democracy candidates for governor and secretary of state in key states to protect the results of the 2024 presidential election.

We produced and deployed digital ads like the one above, connecting MAGA Republicans to the violent January 6 insurrection, which were proven to turn out surge voters in key states.
